Young Jeremy Mendoza from Bronx, New York, condemns Namibian seal hunt

Hi allHerewith a short clip submitted by Jeremy Mendoza of Bronx, New York, USA. Very proud that such a young man stands up for his convictions. Apparently he was moved to tears when he heard about the annual slaughter of seals in Namibia. Something I am sure many of us can empathise with. If you would like to submit YOUR clip, please mail to TheSealsOfNam@gmail.com We are not concerned about fancy lighting, special effects or…See More

Petition the Ombudsman to place a moratorium on ALL sealing

The Ombudsman has indicated it may take up to a year for him to make his decision regarding the seal massacre. We successfully gathered over ten thousand signatures to request the government of Namibia to immediately end the massacre. Now we will continue to apply pressure by asking the ombudsman to declare a moratorium on all seal culling until he has reached his decision. You can sign our petition by clicking…See More

Baby seals being bludgeoned

Namibia is to face a full onslaught of international boycotts. Loads of new footage has been captured of the seal massacre. The world is about to voice it's disapproval. The Namibian Government in their arrogance and foolishness, their failure to accept the negativity, are responsible for what will undoubtedly further cripple the Namibian economy.…See More

Open letter to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economics

WEDNESDAY, 31 AUGUST 2011In an open letter to this committee, we wish to convey our sentiments with regards to fisheries, employment, tourism and the annual massacre of Cape Fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus pusillus). It is ironic that when the seal colony stood at 2 million prior to 1990, fish in the Benguela Current were plentiful, yet now that the colony stands at 650 000 the Namibian Minister of Fisheries blames the seals for eating all the fish. Similarly, the TAC quota set for the cull…See More

Alex, please define the difference between a cull and a harvest. Please explain why there were more fish 25 years ago and the population stood at 2 million seals and now there are no fish and the population stands at 650 000. Please explain why no…

About me
"The Seals of Nam" is a global initiative that had its humble beginnings in mid 2010. "The Seals of Nam" aims to unite various interested parties to bring the stench of the Namibian seal massacre to the nostrils of an indignant world.

Today, "The Seals of Nam" is recognised as being on the forefront of the battle to end the annual Namibian seal hunt. Our success is no longer attributed to just one man, but to a multitude of concerned individuals and broad cross section of welfare organizations, rights groups, scientific bodies and conservationists.
